Friday 18th March 2011 –Roman Bath

Built in the 1st Century around Britain’s only hot spring, this bathing complex is one of Britain’s greatest memorials to the Roman era. See the water's source and walk where Romans walked on the ancient stone pavements around the steaming pool. The extensive ruins and treasures from the spring are beautifully preserved and presented using the best of modern interpretation.

The great bath -

Within the temple area

Thermal Pool

Thermal spring source – see the mineral deposit left from the water which is naturally heated to 46C

The sauna rooms – the tiles under the floor allowed the heat from the springs to spread

Steam rising – off the main bath located next to Bath Cathedral

The assembly room – the tea room next door where you can taste the spring water
